The David Cook (“Light On”) video above is an outstanding AOL session (I couldn’t possibly love AOL sessions any more than I do – always outstanding.) With this song, David shows a different side than some may be accustomed to. He’s one of my all-time favorite Idol contestants and he (with Kelly Clarkson) ties for my favorite American Idol winner. With David Cook, it doesn’t matter WHAT he sings, he’s going to nail it in a way the song’s never been nailed before.

Or will be nailed again.

Yeah. I’m a huge fan.

David Cook This Loud Morning

David Cook fans are excited about This Loud Morning, from RCA records – available on June 28th.

This Loud Morning is the Season 7 American Idol winner’s sophomore album. Executive produced by Matt Serletic (Rob Thomas, Matchbox Twenty, Collective Soul), This Loud Morning features tracks written and co-written by David Cook along with many acclaimed songwriters including, David Hodges, Ryan Tedder, Kevin Griffin and Marti Frederiksen.

According to Cook, “This album is the culmination of one of the loftiest endeavors I’ve ever undertaken. The end result is an album that I cannot wait to share with everyone.” Earlier this year Cook recorded the farewell song for the 10th season of American Idol, which can be heard every week this season. The song, chosen by American Idol creator and Executive Producer Simon Fuller, is a remake of Simple Minds 1985 smash “Don’t You (Forget About Me)”. After winning the Idol crown in season 7, Cook went on to sell over 1 million copies of his self-titled debut album and set out on a year long nationwide tour in support of his multiple hit singles. Released on November 18th, 2008, David Cook (19 Recordings / RCA Records) entered the Billboard charts at #3 and the digital album charts at #1, marking the best debut from an American Idol winner since 2006. Collectively the songs from David Cook have sold over 2 million tracks and ringtones combined. Cook’s coronation single, “The Time of My Life” was certified platinum and is not only the biggest single debut but the highest selling coronation single in the show’s history.

Nicole Scherzinger

I have nothing but mad love for Nicole Scherzinger, so it gives me great pleasure to post this.

ESPN and ABC have produced a special open for 2011 NBA Playoff coverage airing across the networks including Nicole Scherzinger and Jason Bonham performing Led Zeppelin’s iconic “Black Dog.” The video debuted Saturday, April 16, for the start of the playoffs on ESPN and ABC.

“It was an honor to join Jason Bonham on the iconic Led Zeppelin song “Black Dog,’” Nicole commented. “I am excited that fans will be able to see the video during the NBA Playoffs.”

“Working with Nicole for the NBA Playoffs spot was amazing. She is the real deal,” said Bonham. “Not only is she one of the most beautiful people I have ever met, but she has a fantastic and powerful voice. She has a great rock voice and it worked out fantastic for ‘Black Dog.’ I was so pleased to be able to bring this song to such a huge sporting event.”

Nicole Scherzinger is scheduled to release her solo debut, Killer Love, on Interscope/A&M this summer. Nicole set international singles charts on fire with her last two releases, “Poison” and the #1 single “Don’t Hold Your Breath,” both of which will be included on Killer Love.

Crystal Bowersox at the Grand Ole Opry

The American Idol Runner-Up Sings Mine All Mine

by Joi

in Crystal Bowersox, Views and Reviews

We make frequent trips to the Grand Ole Opry, but in a cruel stroke of bad luck, we weren’t there on the night Crystal Bowersox made her spontaneous Grand Ole Opry debut. Music legend Vince Gill gets major “cool guy” points for giving a young artist this kind of an opportunity. If I weren’t already a huge fan of his (and the distinguishable voice that has been behind some of country music’s best songs ever), I certainly would be now.

I LOVE how important the moment was to Crystal. Her excitement and enjoyment were as beautiful as her voice.

But, like you, at least I get to watch the video!

One of the standout stories from American Idol has been the beautiful story of Chris Medina. Unfortunately, he didn’t make the cut and was sent home this week.

It’s certainly not the last we’ll hear from this ridiculously talented man, though. I mean, if we didn’t know it when he walked out those doors (what an exit! – he left J Lo in tears, Randy and Steven near nears and got a huge show of support and love from Ryan), we know it now.

Fans across America now have the opportunity to show their support for Chris Medina. An original song based on his very emotional story, “What Are Words,” (19 Recordings/Interscope) written and produced only a few days ago especially for Medina to perform by acclaimed hitmaking songwriter-producer Rodney Jerkins (Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige), debuted this week, and is available digitally for download. A video, shot this past weekend, just premiered today on AOL.com.

In case you haven’t caught Idol this year, here’s Chris Medina’s moving story: Chris is a 26-year-old barista from Illinois who captured the hearts of viewers for more than simply his vocal talent. His story of becoming the primary caregiver to his fiancée, Juliana Ramos, who was severely injured in a car accident just months before they were scheduled to wed, won him fans around the country. One of those touched by the story was Jerkins, who was so inspired that he penned “What Are Words” for Medina to record earlier this week.

“To go from a mass audition in Milwaukee to the ‘American Idol’ stage in Hollywood and then to record an original song by and for Rodney Jerkins has been an amazing journey not just for me but for Juliana,” said Medina. “To be able to work in the studio with someone of his stature was a dream come true

Added Jerkins: “When I heard the story of Chris and Juliana, the words and music just flowed. Sometimes a song is more than a song and that’s really true with ‘What Are Words.’”

Below is the video of the moment the world also fell a little more in love with Steven Tyler:

I’ve listened to Chris Medina’s What Are Words three times already today – so I guess you know what that means…. Exactly, it’s time for number 4. Seriously, this is better than anything I’ve head on the radio for weeks.

i SQUARE Hey Sexy Lady

Hot Song, Hot Video, Hot Future

in Hip-Hop/R&B, Music Videos, New Artists

Every now and then, an artist (or artists) will come along and make you fall in love with music all over again. They remind you of the beauty of great vocals and the magic of perfect harmony.

This is one of those times. i SQUARE open their mouths and magic happens. I love the hint of 80s in this song, the energy of the music, the flawless vocals… well, everything about it. If this is the first time you’ve heard i SQUARE, don’t worry.

It sure as heck won’t be your last.

Martina McBride With a Broken Wing

Great Song. Great Video. Unbelievable Voice.

If you haven’t seen Country Strong yet, get yourself to the theater asap. This is one very, very special movie. The acting is outstanding and the soundtrack is nothing short of amazing. Tim McGraw was wonderful in this movie and more than held his own with the great Gwyneth Paltrow. He has become quite an actor and is now (get this) filming a movie with Denzel Washington.

Ironically, while Tim McGraw was working with Gwyneth Paltrow on Country Strong, his wife Faith Hill was working with Gwyneth’s husband, Chris Martin from Coldplay, writing songs. At least that’s the story. McGraw joked to Chelsea Handler, “My wife is a huge Coldplay fan, and they spent a lot of time writing songs. I don’t want to start any rumors or anything, but I ain’t heard any songs yet!”

Pam Tillis, Maybe it Was Memphis

Words Can't Describe How I Love this Song

by Joi

in Country Music, Music Videos

Maybe it Was Memphis is one of those songs you just get lost it – hoping and praying you’re never found. Outstanding lyrics and music combined with the voice of a Southern Angel (Pam Tillis) make for a song I could listen to all day, every day.

Sons of Sylvia have released performance clips from their recent VEVO Presents concert at Nashville’s famed venue Exit/In.

Check out the videos for current single “I’ll Know You” along with the powerful title track from their debut album Revelation, available now in stores and on iTunes. For all the latest news on brothers Ashley, Adam and Austin Clark visit SonsofSylvia.com.

Sons of Sylvia, I’ll Know You:

Sons of Sylvia, Revelation:

Sons of Sylvia were known as The Clark Brothers when they (very deservedly) won the Fox reality music competition show, “The Next Great American Band,” two years ago.

As you may know, there are three brothers in the band, Adam Clark, mandolin, acoustic guitar, vocals; Ashley Clark, lead vocals, acoustic guitar, fiddle; and Austin Clark, dobro, lap steel guitar, vocals. The brothers are from Virginia and were part of a family Christian music ministry. Their talent and energy have won them a legion of fans and the fan base is growing daily.

I’m really excited about Sons of Sylvia and look forward to seeing great things happen for the band. It’s always cool to see quality people rise to the top…. I pretty much can never get enough of that.
