Billboard has a new chart called Social 50 which ranks the most active artists on the world’s leading social networking site.  It’s an ingenious way to see who’s hottest amongst the social networking generation.  Not suprisingly, noneother than Rihanna sits in the number 1 spot in its debut week. The beautiful songstress is followed by Justin Bieber and Eminem at the second and third places respectively.

“We continue to adapt the way we chart the changing landscape of music,” Billboard Editorial Director, Bill Werde, said of the new chart. “The Social 50 is yet another step in the evolution of Billboard and an important response to our changing times.”

They use a unique metric that includes weekly page views and song plays on sites like MySpace, iLike, YouTube and Facebook.
Trailing behind the Slim Shady (at number 3) are Lady GaGa and Nicki Minaj.  Black Eyed Peas, Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Linkin Park and Shakira also make the top 10.

The SERIOUSLY:  After the years these ladies had?!  You seriously snub them? Seriously? : Miranda Lambert and Katy Perry… two of the main reasons to turn your radio on!  Oh well, that’s the beauty of award shows – you’re left feeling happy for the winners, even if you wonder WHY some are on stage instead of others.

Still wondering about some of these….  a few times I got confused, Is this the AMAs or Nickelodeon’s Kid’s Choice awards?

Eminem

Last week, several new Eminem tracks hit the net, one of which is causing a stir… a familiar stir for Eminem.

In ‘Elevator’ – Eminem mentions three openly gay singers: former ‘NSYNC member Lance Bass, and American Idol’s Clay Aiken and Adam Lambert.

In the song, Eminem says, “Sorry, Lance, Mr. Lambert and Aiken ain’t gonna make it/ They get so mad, when I call them both fake/ It’s all these f—ing voices in my head, I can’t take it/ Someone shut that f—ing baby up, before I shake it.

More than one website is claiming that Eminem is back on his old homophobic horse. “Eminem cleverly avoids using the word ‘f——” in his new song ‘Elevator’ when referring to Adam Lambert and Clay Aiken, replacing it with the words ‘fake it’s,” says Towleroad.com, a site which describes  itself as “More than gay news for more gay men.” The blog believes, “Of course, phonetically, it sounds just like ‘f—ing.”

Avid tweeter Adam Lambert responded via Twitter: “Wow, Eminem mentioned me in a song?! I must be doing something right!? Even if he used the ‘F word,’ whatever,” which he followed with, “Oh, he says ‘fake it.’ My bad.”

So… what do you think about it all?!?!
