I love Justin’s new song – to be honest, it’s the first one of his songs I’ve ever liked. The video’s pretty slick, too. And I’m a total believer in saying what’s on your mind most of the time – but I have a feeling he’s headed for a backlash from all the work he’s been giving his lips. He might should just save them for singing and, of course, for Cameron.
He, yet again, has been taking digs at Britney. The thing that makes it so classless is that she keeps his name out of her mouth – he should return the favor.
He also called out Taylor Hicks. He pointed out how Taylor can’t carry a tune, etc. True? Hell to the yes. Taylor doesn’t know what a tune is, let alone carry one. And from everything I hear, he’s a jerk – very pompous (for reasons that escape me), arrogant, and rude to his fans. (Dude, your fans pulled off a miracle – you winning over Chris Daughtry, Katharine, Ace Young, and Mandisa should leave you INDEBTED not INDIFFERENT) – furthermore, American Idol deserves any criticism they get for letting his sideshow into a singing competition. All the previous winners could at least sing – and now they have a reigning idol that breaks that streak and could make a mockery of the show. I say could because Chris and Katharine, even though they (SOMEHOW) didn’t actually win, will be breakout stars and will make American Idol look great for finding them.
Where Justin crossed the line, in my opinion, is in recent comments about Taylor’s sexuality. He said:
“If [Hicks] has any skeletons whatsoever, if God forbid, he’s gay, and if all these people in Mississippi who voted for him are like [mocks a thick southern accent], ‘Oh my god, I voted for a queer!’ It’s just too much pressure.”
Seems too insulting to too many people for my taste. And that’s anything but sexy.
