Miley Cyrus

I’ve loved this song since the very first time I heard it. It’s a perfect example of an artist and song gelling perfectly. Miley Cyrus is at her absolute best with The Climb and I wish her nothing but huge success as she makes her climb.

The Climb Lyrics

I can almost see it
That dream I’m dreaming but
There’s a voice inside my head sayin,
You’ll never reach it,
Every step I’m taking,
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking but I
Got to keep trying
Got to keep my head held high

There’s always going to be another mountain
I’m always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes you going to have to lose,
Ain’t about how fast I get there,
Ain’t about what?s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb

The struggles I’m facing,
The chances I’m taking
Sometimes they knock me down but
No I’m not breaking
I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I’m going to remember most yeah
Just got to keep going
And I,
I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on, cause

There’s always going to be another mountain
I’m always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes I’m going to have to lose,
Ain’t about how fast I get there,
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb

There’s always going to be another mountain
I’m always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes you going to have to lose,
Ain’t about how fast I get there,
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb

Keep on moving
Keep climbing
Keep the faith baby
It’s all about
It’s all about
The climb
Keep the faith
Keep your faith

Miley Cyrus, who was well on her was to being as popular on Twitter as Ashton Kutcher, has yet to get a Facebook page.

The talented singer explained it in a way that makes an awful lot of sense: : “I feel like I hang out with my friends and they’re so busy taking pictures of what they’re doing and putting them on Facebook that they’re not really enjoying what they’re doing.”

A few other celebrities who haven’t jumped on the Facebook bandwagon have their own reasoning:

  • Justin Timberlake: “I’m sort of admittedly ridiculously stupid with computers.”
  • Drew Barrymore:  Drew has said that she doesn’t like “this compulsive, instantaneous, over- information, lack-of-privacy, weirdo aspect of the world.”
  • George Clooney: “I would rather have a prostate exam on live television by a guy with very cold hands than have a Facebook page.”

By George, I think he’s against the idea.

Brett Michaels was the lead singer for one of my all-time favorite bands, Poison. As a song writer, the man has as much talent as he does as a singer and performer. I think he’s just excellent in all of these areas, so I’m beyond excited to announce that he’s launching a solo career.

I’ve also got nothing but love for Miley Cyrus – she’s as talented as she is beautiful. She has way too much talent for one person… especially for one so young. I honestly will go so far as to say I think she has the best voice of any of the young singers out there right now. Yes, including the reigning queen of country music radio.

So, I guess there was no way on earth I was NOT going to love a duet featuring Brett Michaels and Miley Cyrus (a combination I never expected to type, let alone hear). When I was sent this song, I nearly fell out of my chair – the first word out of my mouth was, “Random.” I was so excited for its potential that I was half afraid to listen to the song.

Am I ever glad I overcame the jitters. The song is called “Nothing to Lose” and I couldn’t love it more. Check it out for yourself.

Lil Wayne, Brian Wilson, Kanye West, Snoop Dogg and Celine Dion are among a group of artists who have recorded a new version of the wonderful 1985 song ‘We Are The World’ to aid victims of the recent Haiti earthquake.

Barbra Streisand, Carlos Santana, Usher, Miley Cyrus, Tony Bennett and Enrique Iglesias are also among the 75 singers who contributed, reports BBC News.

The song was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie and produced by Quincy Jones – who returned to the role for the new version. The new recording took place at Henson Recording Studios in Hollywood, where the original was also put on tape.

The much-anticipated song is set to debut on NBC, February 12. The video is to be put together by director Paul Haggis, who filmed the recording session.

Lil Wayne said, after the recording, “I don’t know how to sing.” He went on to hail the new song but criticized the response to the 2005 disaster in New Orleans, when Hurricane Katrina caused havoc.

“I think it’s amazing what’s been done for Haiti, but I think it’s amazing what hasn’t been done for New Orleans,” he said.

Lil Wayne makes a good point. I think you could add the victims and families post-September 11. A production like this to raise money and show support would have been outstanding for American families after Sept. 11 AND Hurricane Katrina. But if someone doesn’t stand up and make it happen, it won’t happen. Fortunately for Haiti, someone did stand up, and I guess that’s what we should focus on, right?

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus has officially shut down her Twitter account (a very popular one, at that!).

According to Perez Hilton, Miley Cyrus tweeted that her boyfriend Liam Hemsworth was not on Twitter and that he thought she shouldn’t have a twitter account either. That was apparently her last post. Within a matter of minutes, her twitter site was completely gone.

Searching for @MileyCyrus will provide you with only a blank page.

Shortly after she had her Twitter account closed, her mom Tish Cyrus closed her personal account, @MommyTish.

On Wednesday evening, Miley wrote, “FYI Liam doesn’t have a twitter and he wants ME to delete mine with good reason.”

In another tweet, she wrote, “I’m the happiest I’ve ever been & for that my family’s SO grateful. So for LAME bloggers that don’t know what they’re talking about SHUT UP!”

Billy Ray Cyrus - Achy Breaky Heart

Billy Ray Cyrus became a household name in 1991 with one of the best songs ever, “Acy Breaky Heart.” People point to a lot of stars contributing to country becoming so mainstream and so “cool,” but I think BRC is the one who popped the cork.

He led the way for Keith Urban, Shania Twain, Jason Aldean, and so on. They’re stars in their own right, of course, but I Billy Ray Cyrus showed everyone that country music didn’t have to be riddled with pain and drinking. When he came dancing on the scene with cut out sleeves, rocking a mullet to end all mullets, he proved that country music can be just as fun and spirited as any other music.

I don’t think he gets nearly enough credit for what he did for country music. Personally, it was Billy Ray Cyrus that drew me to country music. I always thought it was kind of depressing. You’d turn the radio from a channel where Madonna, Michael Jackson, John Cougar, Prince, and Janet Jackson were partying and find a country channel. Instead of enjoying life, they seemed (a lot of the time) to grieve over even being alive!

Billy Ray Cyrus brought life and fun to country music with his fantastic song, Achy Breaky Heart. As the song approaches its 20th anniversary, apparently there are a few current country stars who want to re-do the song. Billy Ray told CNN, “there are some major stars who want to re-do that song.”

He hasn’t officially agreed to let anyone else record it yet, but he says, “I’m flirting with the idea. There’s one cat in particular that if I told you who it was, it would blow your mind. But I’ve got to keep it under my hat right now.”

Dying to know who the Cat in the Hat is – or under the hat, as it were. Wouldn’t it be something if the cat was really a kitten… as in Miley Cyrus?!

Kelly Clarkson

I guess we’re continuing right along with Kelly Clarkson day here on Strike a Chord, eh?

Kelly Clarkson performed on the main stage at the Orange County Fair in Costa Mesa, California on July 23. The pictures in this post are actually from the event.

Love her pink jacket and David Bowie tee.

Kelly has recently scored a great (and very well-deserved) honor: She has been invited to take part in the VH1 Divas Live event coming up in September. She’ll join Miley Cyrus, Adele, and Leona Lewis in the first Divas concert since 2004.

A representative of the Divas Live concert told the press: “Adele, Kelly, Leona and Miley have all captured the world’s attention with their talent and have earned their designation as VH1 Divas this year. Don’t let some of their young ages fool you — these women are among the best entertainers in the world and will continue to thrill music fans for a long time to come.”
