Katy Perry recently put out a call asking for mash-ups of her latest hit, “The One That Got Away,” and Richard Marx (a self-proclaimed fan of Katy’s) found one on Youtube that combines his cover of the song with the original. The mash-up, produced by well-known music engineer Matthew Prock, has already racked up over 3,000 views in just a couple of days.
Richard recently shared with AOL Music that “I’m not really a ‘covers’ kind of guy, but I was listening to KP’s album in my car and kept playing this song over and over. The production is perfect for Katy… but I also felt there was another approach that would show off the song itself a bit more.”
Richard Marx’s brand new deluxe album, Stories to Tell, which includes a collection of his greatest hits, acoustic versions, and live tracks, is now available in stores everywhere. The release also comes with a DVD of Marx’s recent performance at the famed Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London. Marx is currently making tour stops across the US, including two dates at Las Vegas’ Orleans Casino this weekend.

Beautiful Adele is pretty much the hottest thing going right now. She’s landed on the cover of People Magazine with a fascinating story inside. The Grammy winner has had to overcome a lot to get where she is today and her story is a very inspirational one, to say the least.

Here’s Adele’s Someone Like You, and yes… as a matter of fact, I did just post an Adle music video. What can I say, I could listen to this remarkable voice for hours on end.
If I were any more obsessed with Adle’s voice, it’d need a restraining order. Seriously.
Her Rolling in the Deep isn’t just one of the most powerful and addictive songs of all time – it’s the PERFECT song. The voice, the music, the lyrics… chills.

Good Life by OneRepublic? I could listen to it three days straight. Outstanding music, outstanding vocals, outstanding song. Make that 6 days straight…
Jason Mecier isn’t your ordinary artist. Instead of paints, pencils, or charcoal, he works with trash. Literal trash. He collects trash and discarded items from celebrities, then uses it to create a portrait. The one above, of Lady Gaga, is one of my favorites.
Blending together rhythmic pop, urban and electronic music, the duo, speakers, are taking over the clubs this Fall with their infectious club track, Bass. Go behind-the-scenes with speakers, made up of singer/rapper/lyricist Keon B. and producer Blair, on the set of Bass for a sneak peek at the revealing music video.
The official video for Bass will premiere later this week on VEVO. In the meantime, find out more about speakers on their official site, Facebook, and Twitter.
More About speakers:
Bold and insistently experimental, the sound of speakers dances amid the worlds of rhythmic pop, urban, and electronic music — the result of the restless imagination of its creators: singer, rapper, and lyricist Keon B and musician-producer Blair Taylor. The duo began working together last fall and decided to label their collaboration speakers because “you can’t hear the music without speakers,” explains Keon. Adds Blair: “And you need two, a left and a right. We are not one without the other.” The chemistry between these two artists, both age 21, is palpable throughout the tracks they are creating for their debut album, which will be released by Virgin Records, in conjunction with independent label Newco (where the duo were first discovered by Troy Carter and Matt Michelsen), in early 2012. Songs like “Bass,” “Gimme Go,” and “Kill Me” are massive party anthems, replete with big hooks and persistently pounding beats that draw from the high energy “bounce” sound that originated in Blair’s hometown of New Orleans. Now based in Los Angeles, the duo have been feverishly writing and recording. “What motivates us is trying to figure out how to communicate,” Keon says. “We were given this ability and we want to use it to help change people’s lives.”
At this moment, if I had to listen to one song every day for the rest of my life, it’d be Skyscraper by Demi Lovato… and I’d pray for two lifetimes. Demi’s powerful vocals and emotion make this a very, very special song and video.
Keep it coming, Demi. This music blog may just be your biggest fan.
