Leona Lewis Defies All Logic and Reason

Not long ago I posted something to the effect of never sing a song that Whitney Houston has sung - that to do so was just setting yourself up for failure, ridicule, or both (or something like that).

It appears that I sould have said UNLESS your name is Leona Lewis, in which case you can sing anything in the world that anyone in the world has ever sung, and blow everyone in the world away.

Great New Zac Efron Pic

The pic above is from the new Vanity Fair. I dunno, sometime when we weren’t looking, Zac grew up! It’s like overnight he went from a little boy to a young man. He’s also ridiculously talented - as evidenced in one of my favorite movies this summer, Hairspray. It’s one of the few I’d actually pay to see again. And again.

Are you getting psyched about Hairspray? It’ll hit theaters on July 20th, which kind of seems like two forevers away. It should be worth the wait, though - it looks like it’ll be pretty amazing.

Check out one of the songs Zac Efron will sing in it called Ladie’s Choice on Zac-e.com. Scroll down a little until you see the “Radio” on the right…. I’m actually listening to the song right now - Love it!

While I think the movie will be huge, I have a feeling Zac is going to be monsterous.

Pink is going all Joan Jett for those of us who love football. The vocally gifted singer is redoing Jett’s amazing song, “I Hate Myself for Loving You” as the theme to “NBC Sunday Night Football.” The reworked song is titled “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night.” It begins, “All right Sunday night where are you?/ Just kicking back from the things that you do/ You want the big game, we want it too…..” Can’t wait!

Jessica Simpson on TRL

Did you catch Jessica Simpson on MTV’s TRL yesterday? Freakin’ adorable, she was. She debuted her new video - - - I guess it was pretty cute. I like the song, it (and the video) have kind of a late 80s feel. I’ll add pics from the TRL visit either later today or tomorrow, at the latest. Depends on what sort of energy vibe Starbuck’s can get going.

I just gave Jessica Simpson Unveiled a nice update - pics from Jessica’s 26th birthday. I’m on the look out for more from this time, because they really are amazing pics.

Idol-atry News

Several things to report from the world of American Idol:

• The tour will begin without Katharine McPhee. She has been ordered by her doctors not to perform on the 5th and 6th of July because of a severe case of bronchitis and laryngitis. She has to rest her pipes.
• Ruben Studdard has been awarded $2 Million dollars in a lawsuit against a former manager!
• Bo Bice Unveiled has just bought a new domain, BoBiceFans.com and will slowly but surely be moving into the new digs. Ace Young Central will be the next one to jump into a new domain…..just as soon as Bo’s all safely moved.
• Speaking of domains, Jessica Simpson Unveiled has also bought a domain, http://www.jessicasimpsonunveiled.com and she also will be moving into her new place soon!
• Be sure to check out each of the Idol sites mentioned above (as well as Katharine McPhee.net, Chris Daughtry Central, and Constantine Online) because there’ll be lots of activity and updates coming up. The tour will produce lots of pics and fan encounters for this season’s singers, and Bo’s on tour, so there should be plenty pics of him to add….and Constantine has several things going and, frankly, you never know what he’s going to get into next!
• Oh, and a belated, but heartfelt congrats to Taylor Hicks for being named at the top of People’s Hottest Bachelor’s List. He seems like a great guy and I wish him a world of success. I honestly just don’t think he should’ve been the last one standing. Not when Chris, Ace, and Katharine were in the competition. Mandisa was also amazing - she just had one little slip, her Shania song bit the big one. I don’t think anyone can carry Shania but Shania. She’s sitting on all kinds of talent, though. But every year, in my opinion, has ended pretty much the same way - the best singers are never the last one standing.
