Drew Lachey

I’ve always been a huge fan of Drew Lachey and his brother Nick, so it’s always great to see them in the news! Drew will be taking part in something very special next month and he’s perfect for the job.

The 2012 World Choir Games in Cincinnati USA countdown starts officially on July 11, 2011 with a celebration event at downtown Cincinnati’s Fountain Square taking place from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Cincinnati native, Grammy-nominated 98 Degrees member & “Dancing with the Stars” Season 2 winner Drew Lachey will emcee the event, introducing a variety of national musical performers and kick starting a yearlong cultural celebration in Cincinnati USA.  2012 marks the first time ever that the Games have been held in the United States. Visitor information for Cincinnati and this special event is available at www.cincyusa.com.

This July 11 makes an ideal reason for travelers to visit Cincinnati, as the city’s Fountain Square comes abuzz with strolling choirs and festival-style booths celebrating the region’s rich international flavor and heritage.  Lachey will take the stage at noon, welcoming the following:

  • · Atlanta-based Gospel recording artist Byron Cage, known as the “Prince of Praise,” will perform with more than 50 singers from the Cincinnati Citywide Mass Choir.  Nominated for Grammy, Stellar and NAACP Image Awards, Cage has been performing and recording since the 1980s and is known for his cross-cultural, mass-appeal style.
  • · The Eleventh Hour Choir from Kettering, Ohio, finalists in the NBC hit show “The Sing Off”
  • · Singer and songwriter Kelly King, star of “The American Dream,” presented at the 2010 World Choir Games in Shaoxing, China
  • · The debut of Whirl, the official mascot of the 2012 World Choir Games, who will be available for photos

In addition, Cincinnati USA Convention & Visitors Bureau President and CEO Dan Lincoln, also a member of the 2012 World Choir Games Cincinnati Organizing Committee, will unveil the official 2012 World Choir Games Countdown Clock with Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory. The clock will be a fixture on Fountain Square until the Games close July 14, 2012.

International pin trading opportunities – modeled after pin trading at the Olympic Games – will begin with the introduction of exclusive, limited-edition pins commemorating the Countdown to the Games.

Rick Allen Def Leppard

I’d love to link to an article written by the very talented and courageous Rick Allen, drummer for one of my personal all-time favorite bands, Def Leppard. Rick Allen wrote the article for Guideposts magazine.

After losing his arm in a car crash the USO contacted Rick to speak to wounded soldiers. Rick went on to volunteer with the Wounded Warrior Project, a group dedicated to helping injured veterans heal both physically and mentally. Rick leads Drum Circles, a rhythm-based group therapy and uses his experience to inspire wounded soldiers.

From my own experience, I’ve learned that the human spirit needs only a spark to be reignited after a loss. Helping to find that spark for these soldiers has been one of the greatest honors of my life.” – Rick Allen

Read the wonderful article HERE. Read it and pass the link around – it’s encouraging for everyone!

JoJo

Remember JoJo? The fresh-faced girl with the great voice and bright future? The same one that seemed to just disappear? This may surprise you, but the fresh-faced little girl is now 20 years old and still making great music. I’ve always loved her voice, but it’s better than ever – I’m betting this song will take over the radio this summer.

Be sure to check out JoJo’s official site, Facebook, and Twitter for the latest news!

….”Oh by the way, I faked it every-time.” – Best line I’ve heard in a song in long, long, long, long time.

The David Cook (“Light On”) video above is an outstanding AOL session (I couldn’t possibly love AOL sessions any more than I do – always outstanding.) With this song, David shows a different side than some may be accustomed to. He’s one of my all-time favorite Idol contestants and he (with Kelly Clarkson) ties for my favorite American Idol winner. With David Cook, it doesn’t matter WHAT he sings, he’s going to nail it in a way the song’s never been nailed before.

Or will be nailed again.

Yeah. I’m a huge fan.

David Cook This Loud Morning

David Cook fans are excited about This Loud Morning, from RCA records – available on June 28th.

This Loud Morning is the Season 7 American Idol winner’s sophomore album. Executive produced by Matt Serletic (Rob Thomas, Matchbox Twenty, Collective Soul), This Loud Morning features tracks written and co-written by David Cook along with many acclaimed songwriters including, David Hodges, Ryan Tedder, Kevin Griffin and Marti Frederiksen.

According to Cook, “This album is the culmination of one of the loftiest endeavors I’ve ever undertaken. The end result is an album that I cannot wait to share with everyone.” Earlier this year Cook recorded the farewell song for the 10th season of American Idol, which can be heard every week this season. The song, chosen by American Idol creator and Executive Producer Simon Fuller, is a remake of Simple Minds 1985 smash “Don’t You (Forget About Me)”. After winning the Idol crown in season 7, Cook went on to sell over 1 million copies of his self-titled debut album and set out on a year long nationwide tour in support of his multiple hit singles. Released on November 18th, 2008, David Cook (19 Recordings / RCA Records) entered the Billboard charts at #3 and the digital album charts at #1, marking the best debut from an American Idol winner since 2006. Collectively the songs from David Cook have sold over 2 million tracks and ringtones combined. Cook’s coronation single, “The Time of My Life” was certified platinum and is not only the biggest single debut but the highest selling coronation single in the show’s history.

Nicole Scherzinger

I have nothing but mad love for Nicole Scherzinger, so it gives me great pleasure to post this.

ESPN and ABC have produced a special open for 2011 NBA Playoff coverage airing across the networks including Nicole Scherzinger and Jason Bonham performing Led Zeppelin’s iconic “Black Dog.” The video debuted Saturday, April 16, for the start of the playoffs on ESPN and ABC.

“It was an honor to join Jason Bonham on the iconic Led Zeppelin song “Black Dog,’” Nicole commented. “I am excited that fans will be able to see the video during the NBA Playoffs.”

“Working with Nicole for the NBA Playoffs spot was amazing. She is the real deal,” said Bonham. “Not only is she one of the most beautiful people I have ever met, but she has a fantastic and powerful voice. She has a great rock voice and it worked out fantastic for ‘Black Dog.’ I was so pleased to be able to bring this song to such a huge sporting event.”

Nicole Scherzinger is scheduled to release her solo debut, Killer Love, on Interscope/A&M this summer. Nicole set international singles charts on fire with her last two releases, “Poison” and the #1 single “Don’t Hold Your Breath,” both of which will be included on Killer Love.

Kimberly Caldwell

Without Regret, the long-anticipated debut album from Kimberly Caldwell, is available in stores and online.  The record features the single “Desperate Boys & Stupid Girls” (love the title!) and 10 other tracks meant to inspire and empower – many of which were written by the singer herself.  “Everything I’ve done has led up to this moment,” she says. “I’m looking forward to people finally getting to know the real me!”

Kimberly will be celebrating the release with a live chat and acoustic performance today on Justin.tv at 6:30 pm Eastern.  To get the latest news and updates, keep up with Kim on Twitter and Facebook and at KimberlyCaldwell.com.

In addition to her impeccable style and great personality, one of the things I’ve always loved most about Kimberly Caldwell is her all-American girl appeal. She’s as talented as she is beautiful and I hope both carry her far.

Justin Timberlake, Rolling Stone no. 1009, September 21, 2006
Buy This Allposters.com

Justin Timberlake has had a lot of success in Hollywood.  The mulit-talented star has all but proved he can do everything and do it well. But his fans have been anxiously awaiting news of Timberlake returning to the recording studio.

Finally, word is that the superstar is about to make his long-awaited return to music.

“I’m planning to spend some time in the studio this summer,” the 30-year-old singer-turned-actor revealed to Entertainment Weekly.

Can you believe that FutureSex/LoveSounds was released in 2006? I guess it has been as long as it feels.  Timberlake, reportedly, is making sure he brings something new to his third solo project.

“I feel like I’m always writing music and working on songs, but to make an album, you have to find a group of songs that speak to something that might not be on the radio currently and make sense for you personally.”

He added, “It’s right around the corner, I think.”
