Our girl’s making a ton of lists for top stories of 2008 and, fortunately, the new’s is all good. Everyone seems to be marveling about her comeback. It’s probably the biggest one I’ve ever witnessed. It would have been SO easy for the girl to just give up and run in the other direction. Who would’ve blamed her?
But she fought tooth and nail and now finds herself in the news for the right reasons. I really just have to give a shout out to her fans – they stuck with her during the lowest points, when it was anything but easy (or cool) to be a Britney Spears fan. She’s proving that everyone who believed in her was right to do so.
Britney Spears News:
1. Rollingstone.com reports that the original director and lead choreographer of Britney Spears’ upcoming Circus tour have both quit before the tour even starts. Wade Robson and Andre Fuentes, have both left the Circus which is expected to take off in New Orleans on March 3rd.
According to the amazing Britney Spears fan site Breathe Heavy, Wade Robson said he’d had it.
Replacing Wade Robson will be Jamie King, who is responsible for Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet Tour and worked with Spears during her Oops… I Did It Again tour. Can you say, “Not bad?!”
Rolling Stone says that Simon Ellis will be the tour’s new musical director. He has worked with the Spice Girls and was called a “genius” by American Idol mastermind Simon Fuller.
2. On http://www.ez-tracks.com, Womanizer is currently the number 7 download – behind Whatever You Like, Live Your Life, If I Were a Boy, Right Now (Na Na Na), Love Story, and All Summer Long. I love all of those. Other personal favorites are Katy Perry at 8 and 10 (with Hot n Cold and I Kissed a Girl) and Kanye West at number 12 with Love Lockdown. It’s only the greatest song in the world. That’s all.
3. Britney’s New Years’ resolution is to stop biting her nails. She says she loves long, painted nails and is determined to start taking better care of her hands: “Next year, I have to learn to stop biting my nails!”
Britney added that she hopes to put her problems behind her in 2009: “I would like to stop worrying so much, because I worry all the time. And to learn how to be happier, just in general. I have to learn to take things not so seriously.”
Apparently, like most people, Britney has trouble keeping resolutions and loses interest in them early: “I end up breaking them. It’s hard.”
4. According to a few reports, Britney might be releasing her own line of hair extensions around March 2009. As someone who’s totally and completely in love with Britney’s perfumes, I guarantee that if her name’s on them, they’ll be worth the wait.
5. “Womanizer” is officially back at the #1 spot on Mediabase with 9287 spins.
I love seeing Beyonce, Britney, and Akon back on top again. Does every song Akon touches have to be so addictive? I’m guessing yes (na na na).
My only beef with this list is, where in the world’s Kanye? Please, a top 10 without Kanye West isn’t a legit top 10 – it’s a… well, it’s a top 10 with 1 shmuck or shmuckette who jumped in his spot.
The pictures are from a Britney Spears sighting at the Nokia Theater on December 4, 2008 in Los Angeles, California. How great is it to see her gorgeous smile again? Click each thumbnail to see the larger version.
Uh, so, have you heard? Britney Spears is back. The girl looks fantastic and this is one of the hottest videos ever. I could watch it a thousand times. In fact, I think I have.
My fingers are crossed for Britney. It looks like she has really pulled her world together. If she stays strong and draws the love and support from her fans, she can lay claim to the biggest come back ever.
You know, I hope she leaves her critics and people who have acted like poison to her (K-fed, for one) standing around, scratching their heads.

Finally! It looks like Britney’s getting the medical care she needs. She was admitted to the hospital yesterday. It’s pretty disgusting to see all of the so-called well people around her acting as badly as she is when she’s so obviously un-well. Hopefully the doctors will push all of them into the background and will give Britney the help she needs before she completely destroys, or ends, her life.
Sources at UCLA Medical Center told TMZ that Britney had been classified as “G.D.” – Gravely Disabled. That’s about as bad as it gets. It means the patient is unable to take care of basic needs, such as food, clothing or shelter. Being G.D. is actually one of the criteria forinvoluntary commitment.
Several Health care sources say that she fell into a “manic state” due to her bipolar disorder. It took longer than normal to admit her at the hospital because she was causing such a horrible scene.
She was screaming and cursing like she’s been known to do a lot. Britney even accused her mother of sleeping with her boyfriend.
At one point, she screamed, “The only reason she’s admitting me is because she wants to be alone with her boyfriend! She wants to sleep with my boyfriend!!”
Sources say that when she calmed down she talked about her sons, how much she misses them and how unfair it is that she doesn’t have them.
This is, honestly, one of the saddest stories I’ve ever seen play out. Keep Brit in your prayers – she needs them. My money’s on her fighting her way back to the top. It’s a Southern thing. Soft and pretty on the outside but a fighter inside.
She’s going to need all the fight she has as well as all the strength from her fans.
