Britney Spears at the VMA’s

by staff on September 10, 2007

Uh….yeah. First of all, I’ve got to get this out there. I don’t think Britney looked that bad. We all know she’s wearing a wig or weaves, or something. We’ve seen the pics and know that her real hair is reddish and is only about an inch long. As for all the “out of shape” criticisms - there were several females there who were probably Brit’s size, but they had the good sense to stay covered up. Besides, I don’t think she looked fat, just soft. Most people don’t think soft’s such a bad thing, either.

My problems were more with the performance. She stuck up the joint! Of course she was higher than the highest of kites - she pretty much always is. She made a fool of herself - there’s just no getting around it. I was really disappointed. Part of me was pulling for her to get her act together and pull herself out of the wreckage of her life. I love a good, happy ending.

But, alas, the tragedy continues.

Honestly, what was MTV thinking?!?! Why have her of all people open the show? Why not let someone who has actually CONTRIBUTED to the music and video industry this year have the honor - like Justin Timberlake, Fergie, Rihanna, Beyonce, Nelly Furtado, Chris Brown, Maroon 5….

The fact that she started it off on such a lousy note has caused the whole affair to be called a flop. The entire production was off the mark, somehow, I have to admit. But Chris Brown was completely amazing. His number should be the only thing anyone is talking about - but Britney’s circus is taking away all of the attention. Hopefully, when it all dies down, Chris will be left standing….or rather dancing! Can you freakin’ believe his moves?!?!
