Fiddy Said WHAT About My Kanye?

by staff on August 11, 2007

Kanye West Picture
Kanye West Making a Fashion Statement with the Jacket and a Personal one with the Necklace.

50 Cent has made an outrageously ridiculous statement:

“If Kanye West sells more records than 50 Cent on September 11, I’ll no longer [perform] music. I’ll write music and work with my other artists, but I won’t put out any more solo albums.”

Why’s he getting all up in Kanye’s business for? I’ve never had a problem with Fiddy before…never been all that big a fan, mind you, but I never worked up any hatred for the man. If he keeps spouting off about Kanye, though, there’ll be a different story to tell.

Kanye’s my pick BY FAR over 50. I mean, I’m counting the minutes until Kanye’s cd drops and didn’t know (or care) that 50 had one on the way. More than ever, now, I hope Kanye West outsells 50 Cent - heck, I hope it’s not even close.

How about y’all - If you could only buy one’s cd, who’d you pick? : Kanye West or 50 Cent?

Billy Currington’s Childhood Demons

by staff on August 10, 2007

Billy Currington Pictures

In an interview with People magazine, country superstar Billy Currington said that he’s taking the rest of the year off to continue treatment for issues stemming from nearly a dozen years of physical abuse as a child.

Billy says he returned to Nashville (on July 26) after a 30-day stay at a trauma recovery program in Arizona. He has canceled 83 shows and will leave for Hawaii on August 26 to work with two therapists specializing in childhood trauma.

Apparently his first stepfather, the one Billy wrote about in “Walk a Little Straighter,” physically abused him for years, including knocking him unconscious when he was 10! I won’t even say what I’d like to have seen happen to that idiot. But it rhymes with having the skit beaten out of him.

Billy’s trauma began showing itself when he got into fights in grade school. “When you are taught to hate, you carry that with you,” he says. “Even today, I call myself 98 percent laid-back, but 2 percent is Little Billy, my inner child that’s hurt, sad and furious because he was never taken care of.

“My childhood did not turn me into an alcoholic or a drug addict; my challenge in life is my anger,” Billy says. “I’d be Little Billy for two seconds, yelling and blowing up. And in those instances, that rage can destroy relationships, whether it’s with a girlfriend or a business partner or a fan.”

Very, very best of wishes for Billy and his recovery - he’s seeking out help, so our money’s on him beating the demons and sending them back to hell where they belong.

Constantine Maroulis Pics from the 7th

by staff on August 9, 2007

The pics below are of one of S.A.C.’s favorite Idols ever, Constantine Maroulis on August 7, 2007. He was giving an “In-Store Performance” as well as signing autographs in conjunction with the release of his HOT cd, “Constantine.” The event took place at an FYE in New York City.

By the way, if you haven’t gotten his cd yet - do the smartest thing you’ve done all year and grab a copy or two. It. Was. Worth. The. Wait. A lot of artists will rush a cd out there and it’ll be a piece of ….yeah, you know …. but the smarter ones will wait to get each and every song just perfect. Constantine takes a lot of pride in what he puts out there for his fans and it shows in his work. I’ll admit I’ve been as antsy as anyone - but this was MORE than worth it. Every single song is amazing - each time I think, “Oh, yeah, that’s my favorite one..” I’ll listen to another one and change my mind.

My favorite, this morning anyway, is Heaven Help the Lonely. Of course, by lunchtime it may be Girl Like You, and Favorite T-Shirt by supper. Sister, Sister is amazingly beautiful…there’s something haunting about it. I’m listening to Everybody Loves right now and it’s making a great case for itself - I LOVE the lyrics of this song. They lift you up and make you feel really great….like you’re walking hand in hand on the beach with the one you love while drinking a Mocha Frap from Starbucks. Not a care in the world. Hard to beat that, right?

In his credits, Constantine said, “Ultimately I wanted to make a great sounding, good-time rock ‘n roll album and I believe we did just that.”

Well said and even better done.

Matt White - The Next Big Thing

by staff on August 8, 2007

Matt White is being heralded as the next big thing in music. Judging by what I’ve seen and heard - I’m totally on board with that. He reminds me a little of John Mayer…great voice! I’m so convinced that this guy’s going to be huge that I’ve gone ahead and created his own category here on the blog. The ultimate seal of approval from me.

Ace Young Interview

by staff on August 7, 2007

I was searching high/low (and everywhere in between) for more news on Ace Young’s upcoming cd. I haven’t really uncovered anything new, but I did come across a cute little interview with him.

Apparently there is an Idol Camp (the first ever) - and Ace made an appearance. Click the link below to check it out.

American Idol Camp

Can’t wait for his cd, and I know for a fact that the first time I hear him (or Constantine) on the radio I’ll be a danger to myself. It was the same way when I first heard Bo Bice, Chris Daughtry, Bucky Covington and Kellie Pickler.
