Carrie Underwood: Princess of Country Music!

“The 41st Annual CMA Awards” will November 7 on ABC, live from Nashville, of course. The nominees are pretty much the same lineup of suspects as every year, with a few originalities thrown in to keep things interesting. I put a * by each artist I WANT to win - and a @ by the one I THINK will win. I had a few ties, but I just couldn’t make up my mind.

Okay, you know that for the occasional American Idol gripe, I try to ride on a positive wave….and avoid negative currents (there’s far too much negativity everywhere else, right?). Eh, throwing that aside for just a minute or two. How in the name of all sanity can the Dixie Chicks be considered for anything? Why would Country Music want to acknowledge them at all? They’ve trashed the genre and tried to distance themselves as far from it as possible. - I’d have loved to see a complete snubbing.

I also don’t get Sugarland and The Wreckers not being in the Single of the Year or Song of the Year categories. I didn’t care for Martina’s, George Strait’s, and Brad Paisley’s songs. Fact is, I wanted to punch my radio every time “Ticks came on.” I know, I know, I”m off that positive wave but good, here, but I’m just saying…

I’m also surprised that Kenny Chesney’s “You Save Me” wasn’t a nominee for song of the year and single of the year. Beautiful song…beautifully done.

Zac Efron and HSM Racked Up!

It’d be tough to think of a win that HSM and/or Zac Efron didn’t have at least one foot in last night. I knew they’d do well, but that was beyond well.

And you know what, I’m thrilled for them! I especially loved seeing Hairspray win - it was one of my favorite films in years. I’m glad for the HSM kids, too - they all seem like class acts and have more talent than most people twice their age.

In honor of them, I’m going to post a lot of HSM-related posters, etc. I got an e-mail not long ago from a girl named “Tabbi” wanting to know where she could find som High School Musical posters for her room… Here you go, Tabbi, all the Zac Efron you could ever hope for…..Well, almost all the Zac Efron you could ever hope for…

Btw, if you haven’t gotten her new cd yet, grab it today. This thing is beyond belief. She’s liable to have over 6 top ten hits from this one cd, alone. The really incredible thing is, Rihanna keeps getting better and better. Unlike some artists who are headed downhill on a slippery slope, Rihanna and a select group of others (Justin Timberlake, Maroon 5, Fergie, Gwen Stefani, Kanye West…) keep getting stronger. They were awesome in the first place, of course, but they just keep building on that!

Speaking of awesome, how do you love Matchbox Twenty’s new single? I could listen to Rob Thomas all day without touching the dial, anyway, but this one is definitely one of the hottest songs they’ve ever done. Nelly also has a realllly nice new song. I’ve only heard it once, so far, but I love it. He has a great voice and his stuff is always flawless….. He’s been out of circulation WAY too long.
