Britney looks more beautiful than I can remember her looking in a long time. I think the dark hair looks amazing on her - with her dark eyes and all. How great would it be to see this girl get her act together, become something more than a threat to her own children and babysitter for their father? There’s a great deal of talent below the surface, and I’m hoping that she doesn’t forget that with everything (and everyone) else going on.

Good to see someone beside her to keep her from taking a header.

Kat’s a busy girl. The American Idol Runner Up will be a co-host on today’s “The View,” then will join up with the AI tour tonight.

She has also just signed on as the first spokesperson for Big Sexy hair products. That blindingly bright future begins NOW.

The One?

Did anyone else catch “The One” last night? I was pretty psyched, thinking it would be a great way to fill the void left by American Idol’s off-time. And, actually, the judges are interesting, the format pretty edgy and overall - the whole idea is great.

Then there are the singers.

With a few exceptions - they suck loudly. Was it really THAT hard to find talented people to put in the mix? Most of them were so bad they ran me out of the room. I thought Michael Cole was actually danged good - he was AI quality. Syesha Mercado has a great voice, and Scotty Granger did some amazing things with his song. The Queen of gospel music, Mahalia Jackson is his great aunt and when he sings, it glows.

The rest could have just had a bad night, I guess - but if you’re going to make a show that’ll inevitably be looked at as a copy cat, you should do back flips to up your game.

I’ll say this, I love the backstage/reality show feel. Edgier than AI’s staged, written, overly-rehearsed little interview segments. Their group song didn’t reek of cheese, either - unlike AI’s rat bait.

Lance Bass Admits He’s Gay

Lance Bass has publicly “come out of the closet.” Not only is he gay, he’s apparently in love and in a relationship that’s quite serious. His man candy is actor Reichen Lehmkuhl, winner of season four’s ”Amazing Race.”

He said that he kept mum because he was fearful of hurting ‘N Sync’s popularity. Apparently he was afraid that if he admitted he was gay, it’d make ‘N Sync Outta Sync.

The couple is developing a sitcom pilot based on The Odd Couple, with Bass’ character being gay.

”The thing is, I’m not ashamed — that’s the one thing I went to say. I don’t think it’s wrong, I’m not devastated going through this. I’m more liberated and happy than I’ve been my whole life. I’m just happy.” -Lance Bass

Did you catch Jessica Simpson on MTV’s TRL yesterday? Freakin’ adorable, she was. She debuted her new video - - - I guess it was pretty cute. I like the song, it (and the video) have kind of a late 80s feel. I’ll add pics from the TRL visit either later today or tomorrow, at the latest. Depends on what sort of energy vibe Starbuck’s can get going.
