Kevin Covais - Maturity WAY Beyond His Years!

I was rewatching an American Idol episode recently and was struck AGAIN at how Kevin handles himself. The kid could give lessons to people much older.

I have to admit, I don’t think he’s the best singer in the group - not when Chris Daughtry, Ace Young, Mandisa, Katharine McPhee. Lisa Tucker, and Bucky Covington are sharing the stage. The average person would pale in comparison to them… but it’d be hard to imagine this season without him. He’s added a lot of smiles and laughter to the shows and I absolutely LOVE his spirit and attitude.

I just have to wonder, why do people get so mad at contestants? I mean, if you go to the Idol Forums - sometimes other fan bases will go around to other threads and bash the poster’s favorite. What do they hope to accomplish by that?! I saw quite a few lashing out at Kevin and his fans this morning. Come on, he’s a great kid! And people are entitled to like and dislike who they choose - they don’t need anyone’s permission to have a favorite.

My personal favorites are Chris, Ace, Mandisa and Bucky - and I like Lisa more and more each time she opens her lovely mouth.

I can’t wait to hear them all tomorrow night!

Chris Daughtry Closes the Show With a Bang and a Bam

I thought, all in all, everyone did a great job last night. Chris, Katharine, Taylor, Lisa, and Paris especially. Kevin’s performance made me smile - I loves that kid, but since this is American Idol and we want the very, very best to represent us, I think it best if he makes an earlyrather than late exit. Great little guy though - lots of guts, lots of spirit, GREAT attitude, and cuter than he has a right to be.

Ace, Mandisa and Bucky did very good also - they’re three of my other faves. For Ace, it would just be hard to follow up his “Butterflies” performance, which was one of my ALL TIME favorite AI performances. Mandisa and Bucky are near and dear to my American Idol heart, but I can’t even remember what they sang, which is not a good sign. Kellie, in my opinion wasn’t as good as usual (But I heart her muchly anyway.), and though Melissa was better than usual - I’m still just not feeling it.

Chris. Our Chris. Amazing! Does the boy know how to sing a song without it being amazing?!?! I don’t think so. The song was perfect, he was perfect, and he closed the show in Chris style….the way every one of them should be closed. He, Katharine and Taylor were my favorites of the night.

Does anyone else wish to the highest Heaven that Gedeon had been around last night to sing. He’d have been amazing.

I look forward to tonight’s show - but it’s going to be really hard to say good-bye to any of these idols. I’ll have to keep my tissues nearby! Or, I might just do like I did last year when Constantine was booted off - throw a pillow, slam a door, and sulk for about a week.

Gedeon and Ayla’s MUCH Too Early Exit!

Glad to see I’m not the only one who realizes the lunacy of Gedeon and Ayla being gone while a couple of much lesser talents continue. They both deserved a spot in the top 12.

Thursday Night’s Results Show

First of all, Bo is amazing - he was when we first saw him on AI and he is now. He’s just a special performer and never fails to make his fans proud. It was so great to see him on the show again!

Second of all, POOR AYLA and GEDEON - it so was not their time to go. No way, no how. I don’t want to tick anybody off, but a couple of people had their butts planted in chairs that belonged to Gedeon and Ayla.

Every year injustices happen - we come to expect it, but this was danged near laughable. Gedeon and Ayla have amazing, amazing voices and ooze potential for BIG things. A few of the others we all know haven’t a shot in a billion.

A little something that bothered me - all the excessive celebrating by so many of the 12 when they knew other’s dreams were crashing - or soon would be. I know they’re young, and I know they’re excited - but someone should tell them that a little maturity and compassion go a long way. Thank goodness for people like Mandisa and (last year) Bo, Constantine, Anwar, Carrie, Anthony and Nikko. Some people act so much more dignified than others.

A certain young girl in this year’s group would do well to take a few cues!

All the grumbling out of my system! We have a really strong top 12 and this season ought to be fun!
