Idol Worship

October 28, 2005

Bo Bice!

The big question is Who’s your ALL TIME favorite American Idol? Bo, Kelly, Constantine, Carrie, Clay, Fantasia, Ruben…someone else?

Leave a comment with your pick - the idol with the most votes will be the next featured artist on the blog, and will sit pretty where Gwen is right now.

Montgomery Gentry’s Goes Platinum!

October 26, 2005

The pride of Kentucky (well along with UK basketball and Johnny Depp), Montgomery Gentry has several reasons to celebrate.

First of all, their album, You Do Your Thing, has been certified platinum. It’s their third platinum certification, following 1999’s Tattoos & Scars and 2002’s My Town.

Second of all, the hot duo will release Something to Be Proud Of: The Best of 1999-2005 on Tuesday (Nov. 1).

Photos of Britney’s Baby Stolen

October 24, 2005

Some nut job has stolen pics of Britney Spears’ baby. She’s threatening legal action, but the pictures have already shown up online - on at least two websites. One picture is of her holding the baby and the other is a family portrait - things that were supposed to be private.

She and Kevin had been keeping their new baby sheilded from photographers. Until now.

If I were her, I’d most definitely be looking for heads to fry.

Faith in Fireflies

October 23, 2005

I bought the new Faith Hill CD, Firefles, yesterday. LOVE it.

When Mississippi Girl came out, I gotta confess, I hated it with a cruel, relentless hatred. You know the kind of hate-on that makes you go diving for the radio to try to change it before a word comes out of the singer’s mouth. Nearly hit an Ups truck because of that song.

But when the second single came out, “Like we never loved at all,” I returned to my Faith fan ways. What an amazing voice.

The CD is really great - it’s Faith doing what Faith does best, showing her range and heart quite unlike anyone else. I just can’t believe that the decision was made to release “Mississippi Girl” before “Fireflies” or “Like we never loved at all,” or “If you ask,” or…… Okay, or any of the rest.

Lost Beethoven manuscript discovered after 115 years

October 14, 2005

NEW YORK (AFP) - A handwritten, working manuscript of one of Beethoven’s most revolutionary works had been rediscovered after 115 years by a librarian in Pennsylvania, triggering fevered excitement among music historians.

Sotheby’s auction house, which will offer “Grosse Fuge” for sale in London in December, said Thursday that the 80-page score was “the longest and most important manuscript to have appeared on the market in living memory.”

Sotheby’s experts have put an estimate on the lot of between 1.7 million and 2.6 million dollars.

“This is an amazing find,” said Stephen Roe, Head of Sotheby’s Manuscript Department

“The manuscript was only known from a brief description in a catalogue in 1890 and it has never before been seen or described by Beethoven scholars,” Roe said.

Sweet Anticipation!

October 13, 2005

It has been quite a while since I’ve been this excited for a CD’s release, but there are two that I’m all hot and bothered over.

First of all, Bo Bice’s. He not only should have won (Okay, him or Constantine) the freaking competition, he’s as good as anything on the radio right now. Better than most! I can’t wait for the release - I’m buying two because I fully intend to wear one out right off the proverbial bat.

Secondly, Ashlee’s new CD should be incredible - if what I’ve heard so far is ANY indication. She outclasses most of the other young girls on the radio right now. I think the crap from last year will stay in last year. Looks like she has matured and gotten stronger.

One thing’s for sure, she sounds amazing.
