Green Day Launches US Arena Tour in Chicago Tonight

Green Day

This is a big week for the great city of Chicago. First, the Bulls break the Heat’s amazing win streak, then they have the honor of kicking off Green Day’s much-anticipated concert tour.

Reprise Records’ multi-platinum Grammy®Award-winning Green Day will kick off their 2013 U.S. arena tour tonight in Chicago at Allstate Arena. The forthcoming U.S. arena shows follow three recent dates at intimate venues in Pomona, Tempe, and El Paso as well a highly momentous career spanning set during Austin’s South By Southwest. Billboard declared the set “…a punk rock extravaganza”, while the Associated Press asserted, “…they’re playing like the old days.”

Green Day is touring in support of its recently released album trilogy Green Day ¡Uno!, Green Day ¡Dos!, and Green Day ¡Tré! The albums are the follow-up to the Grammy Award-winning 21st Century Breakdown, and were produced by the band’s long-time producer Rob Cavallo.

The band recently premiered their documentary film ¡Cuatro! which was featured in the 20th Anniversary South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Conference. The film takes you inside the world of Green Day, chronicling the conceptualizing and recording of the album trilogy and features intimate live performances that took place along the way. Additionally, the Doug Hamilton directed Broadway Idiot premiered at SXSW. The film pulls back the curtain with lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong as he ventures into the strange new world of Broadway with their massive hit musical American Idiot.

Green Day is vocalist/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool.

“Green Day Blast Back With a Supercharged Billie Joe Armstrong.” - Rolling Stone

“Armstrong remains the epitome of a great frontman, a true rock and roll super star.”  – Consequence of Sound

Matthew Morrison Where it All Began

Glee Fans and Music Lovers, Here's News You'll Love

Matthew Morrison Where it All Began

Glee fans – as well as fans of great music will love this.  I am completely and utterly in love with the music of yesterday and KNOW Matthew Morrison will do these classics great justice.  I’m excited to see him bring these songs back to the forefront and introduce them to a whole new audience as those of us who already love the songs get to enjoy them all over again.

I’ll keep you up to date on other promotional appearances and let you know as soon as the album’s available.

EMMY, TONY, and Golden Globe-nominated star Matthew Morrison is to release a new studio album, Where It All Began, on June 4, 2013.  Featuring a collection of classic standards, many of which were first made famous in Broadway musicals. Morrison turned to legendary producer Phil Ramone (Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett), along with GRAMMY Award-winning producer Gregg Field, to create the 12 songs featured on the album. The collection marks the first release from 222 Records, the newly formed label from Adam Levine.

“I enjoyed the journey back to my roots on this new album.  “This is the album I’’ve always wanted to make, and I am looking forward to sharing the experience with everyone.” I am thrilled to be working with Matthew Morrison,” said Adam Levine. “I am excited for everyone to hear the album because he has so much talent and am so proud to have this release produced by the legendary Phil Ramone.” – Matthew Morrison

Morrison’’s new album of standards is a salute to the music that means the most to him and follows on the release of his 2011 self-titled solo pop album. On Where It All Began, it was paramount for Morrison that he put his own stamp on the songs, either by coming up with new tempos and arrangements or by recreating the song in a way it had never been imagined before. Together, with Phil Ramone, the pair re-envisioned the tracks featured, while still embracing what made these standards classics in the first place.
A couple of standouts on the album include the  “West Side Story Medley” and “Luck Be A Lady,” which Matthew Morrison recorded at the famed Capitol Studios, where Frank Sinatra actually recorded many of his songs.

Morrison adds another dimension to the album with his national PBS special, premiering June 1, 2013, “Matthew Morrison: Where It All Began – Live From the Bushnell”. Shot in Hartford, Connecticut in front of a enraptured crowd, Matthew is accompanied by an orchestra and his own funk-injected backup singers, dancers and band. His strength as an all–around performer is showcased in this production from Connecticut Public Television for Podwall Entertainment, 222 Records and PBS.

In further support of the album, Matthew has also announced four additional live concert dates. He’ll perform on May 28th and 29th with the Boston Pops at Symphony Hall in Massachusetts and on November 29th and 30th with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.

After studying musical theater, vocal performance and dance at NYU’s Tisch School of The Arts, Matthew Morrison made his debut on Broadway in Footloose, followed by The Rocky Horror Picture Show. However, it was his role as Link Larkin in the original cast of the Broadway production of Hairspray that served as his breakthrough and led to him being cast in the critically acclaimed The Light In The Piazza. His portrayal of young lover Fabrizio Naccarelli garnered him a TONY nomination for best performance by a featured actor in a musical. He subsequently received a Drama Desk nomination for outstanding actor in the off-Broadway musical 10 Million Miles and reprised the role of Lieutenant Cable in Lincoln Center’s TONY-nominated production of South Pacific. Matthew soon followed these performances with his role as the perpetually optimistic high school teacher Will Schuester on FOX TV’s Glee, which he has received both EMMY and two Golden Globe nominations. He most recently co-starred alongside Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez in the major motion picture What To Expect When You’re Expecting.

80′s Video of the Day: Robert Plant: Tall Cool One

Lighten Up, Baby, I'm In Love With You...

Robert Palmer’s Tall Cool One was one of my all-time favorite songs of the 80′s, but oddly enough I don’t think I’ve ever called it by its actual name.  Some songs just beg to be called something else, don’t they?  Although the DJs on the radio and the hosts on MTV kept reminding me the song’s title was “Tall Cool One,” it was always “Lighten Up, Baby, I’m In Love With You” to me.

So, step back in time and rock 80′s style with Robert Palmer’s “Lighten Up, Baby, I’m In Love With You.”

Tall Cool One was from Robert Plant’s album Now & Zen.

Track Listings from Now & Zen:

  1. Heaven Knows
  2. Dance On My Own

What’s in the Perks of Being a Wallflower Soundtrack?

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

You do remember that time when music videos were lame and downloads were unheard of, right? Yeah, those were the days. We now heave a collective sigh as we remember the simpler life of FM radio which is actually from a radio and not streaming through the internet. We used to save every penny we could so we can hit the nearby record store for a new cassette tape from our favorite band. It’s funny looking back on it now since it wasn’t in the very distant past, and we all appreciate the technology which makes music very accessible to everyone. It’s safe to assume that we all have been able to define our music personality easier, what with all the genres available for our hearing pleasure at our fingertips. Although, there was a certain elation in the effort of putting together a mixtape, and you know what they say: every mixtape is a love letter. Forgive the sentimentality. This craze was brought about by the Perks of Being a Wallflower Soundtrack.

Yes, we are past that era dubbed in our minds as the A-Side/B-Side period in music history, but once you listen to this eclectic mix of songs mostly from the ‘90s it can’t be helped—we’re transported to a place and time where joys were simple. Sure, we wouldn’t wanna go back to that era – no iTunes to get our latest music from, nor the favorite virtual store e-Bay for our online purchases, nor partycasino.com for our online gaming impulses. Imagine actually going to the store for our needs, when today we can have them delivered to our doorstep. And, we wouldn’t give up playing slots or blackjack, nor would we want to miss out on the chance to win real cash prizes without even leaving the couch. Party Casino gives players the opportunity to win some cash in the comfort of their own homes, whilst listening to their favorite music, of course.

With that said, I urge you now to take the time to listen, dusk will be the best time of day for this, it adds to the drama, to these songs that make their mark on you, that you may claim as your own.
These are the tracks:
1. The Samples – Could It Be Another Change
2. Dexys Midnight Runners – Come On Eileen
3. Galaxie 500 – Tugboat
4. New Order – Temptation
5. The Innocence Mission – Evensong
6. The Smiths – Asleep
7. Cracker – Low
8. Sonic Youth – Teenage Riot
9. XTC – Dear God
10. Cocteau Twins – Pearly-Dewdrops’ Drops
11. Michael Brook – Charlie’s Last Letter
12. David Bowie – Heroes

After listening you’ll notice that no, you do not have to be a wallflower to enjoy this soundtrack. And you need not be profound or disturbed to realize that each of us, however slightly insignificant we feel compared to the world, at some point —are infinite.

Gary Allan’s Powerful New Song: Every Storm Runs Out of Rain

Gary Allan is Back... In a Big Way!

Some artists say they care and other artists prove it.  Gary Allan is stepping up in a big way to support victims of Hurricane Sandy.

The multi platinum artist has launched a Donate and Download program to support Red Cross and their disaster relief efforts. Allan is giving away a free download of an exclusive acoustic version of his new hit single “Every Storm (Runs Out Of Rain)” as incentive for fans to donate to the Red Cross.

Earlier this week, USAToday.com hosted the world premiere of the official video for Allan’s single, tagged with a message encouraging people to donate to the Red Cross. Allan was scheduled to headline a show in Atlantic City the week Sandy hit. The show, like many others in the northeast, was cancelled due to the storm.

Allan shot the video for his new single just two weeks later in Nashville, TN. Shortly afterwards, Allan and his team started to realize how timely his song was, and that it could be used as a tool to help others in need. When disasters like Superstorm Sandy devastate communities, your support helps ensure the Red Cross is there to provide warm meals, shelter, and hope to families when they need it most.

“”My song ‘Every Storm (Runs Out Of Rain)’ is about hope and light at the end of the tunnel.” said Allan. “With the devastation in the northeast region by Sandy, I thought this song was extremely timely. I wanted to partner with the Red Cross on this because they have always offered hope for those in need.””

Allan has made a commitment to give away this exclusive acoustic version of his single for free. For more information on Gary Allan, visit his official site at www.garyallan.com and follow him on Twitter (@GaryAllan)

“Every Storm (Runs Out Of Rain)” is available now on iTunes.

Jaida Dreyer I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus: Love the Song, Love the Video!

Although I LOVE Christmas songs to distraction, I have to admit I’ve never been that fond of “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” – that is until I heard Jaida Dreyer’s version.

Now it’s one of my favorite Christmas songs. Amazing what the right artist can do for a song, isn’t it?

I’m also crazy about the music video. Fun, upbeat, and… let’s fact it… adorable. The little girl is the very definition of a scene stealer.

Love it.

Nelly Furtado Powerless (Say What You Want) Video and Lyrics

I love all Nelly Furtado music – seriously, I don’t think the woman has had a bad song EVER.  Powerless is one of my favorite Nelly Furtado songs – the music, video, and vocals are each perfect and the lyrics?  Suffice to say I fall in love with them each time I hear the song.

“Powerless (Say What You Want)”

Paint my face in your magazines
Make it look whiter than it seems
Paint me over with your dreams
Shove away my ethnicity
Burn every notion that I may have a flame inside to fight
And say just what is on my mind
Without offending your might

Cuz this life is too short to live it just for you
But when you feel so powerless what are you gonna do
So say what you want
Say what you want

I saw her face outside today
Weatherworn, looking all the rage
They took her passion and her gaze and made a poster
Now it’s moccasins we sport
We take the culture and contort
Perhaps only to distort what we are hiding

Cuz this life is too short to live it just for you
But when you feel so powerless what are you gonna do
But say what you want
Say what you want

Hey you, the one, the one outside, are you ever gonna get in, get in
Hey you, the one that don’t fit in, how ya, how ya gonna get in
Hey you, the one outside, are you ever gonna get in with your
Broken teeth, broken jaw, broken mojo
Yeah, this life is too short to live it just for you
But when you feel so powerless, what are you gonna do

Cuz this life is too short to live it just for you
But when you feel so powerless, what are you gonna do
Cuz this life is too short to live it just for you
But when you feel so powerless, what are you gonna do
Say what you want, say what you want, say, say, say

Cuz this life is too short,
just for you
